Beach Camping
Camping does not need to be limited to a tent in the woods, a cabin tucked away in the snow, or a travel trailer conveniently placed. There is a lot to be said for Beach camping.
Beach camping can be messy fun.
The beach is the perfect family vacation destination, yet If you are like many people the initial thought of camping on the beach may make you cringe.
Sure the sand gets in your food, hair, tent and other places you never imagined getting sand, but the truth is there is something about camping on the beach that is hard to beat. Camping on the beach provides you with opportunities most people never get to experience such as, unbelievable sunsets, listening to crashing waves all night and day, lounging on the beach with no internet, phone calls, or t.v to distract you from the beauty we tend to take for granted on a daily basis. Many states still have beach access by a vehicle. The Texas coast provides hundreds of miles on the Gulf of Mexico to spend your vacation camping on the beach. Washington State as well as Oregon provide some of the most beautiful beach scenery in the united states. It may take some hiking to get where you want to go, but well worth any effort to see the sites on the Pacific North West coast.
While beach camping can be just as fun pitching it in seclusion, there are some really cool resort options that might tickle your fancy. Much like what you would expect from a hotel resort, there are Beach camping resorts that can offer you all inclusive food, drinks, clean bathrooms not open to the general public and a bit of added security for safety issues. Going to an all inclusive camping resort can take many stressful planning issues out of the picture.
Before determining your camping destination you will want to decide what beach is closest to you- if location is not an issue, you want to think about local fire laws, because there is no sense in going to the beach without being able to make a fire... after all bonfires are the best part of camping on the beach.
Camping on the beach may bring on some added work as it does tend to be a bit messier on the beach than camping else where. Come fully equipped with everything you would need for camping anywhere else you would plan to go. Such as, will you be fishing? Kayaking? Did you forget the sunscreen, or shelter from the sun without having to be in your tent? Does your child have a life jacket and do they know all the rules about playing near water? Did you bring enough water to drink?
It is never a bad idea to go over a list of rules with young children so they know how dangerous going into the water alone would be.
Avoid camping next to sand dunes and headlands as these tend to be very dangerous in the event of heavy winds and storms- they also tend to be where snakes, scorpions and other unwanted pest hang out. It is always a good idea to steer clear of wetlands where mosquito's like to nest, and ant hills as these can ruin your camping experience.
So have you already decided where you next beach vacation will be? Ready to go and devour some fun? I am sure you are, don't forget to check with the locals on beach permits, local events, and possible dangers to avoid in the area. Always keep your eye out for jelly fish, dangerous rip tides and other such hazards. Chances are the beach is more than safe, but it is always best to keep these things in mind.
So grab your beach toys of choice, and soak up the sun because there is nothing like Beach Camping.
